My first quilt...

I taught myself how to quilt by watching shows, reading books, asking people, and looking on the internet. I then set out to make my first quilt for my daughter. I bought fat quarters and cut them, laid them out in a pattern I liked, then proceeded to sew them, by hand!. I sewed them in rows, pressed the rows, sewed the rows together, pressed those, put the batting on the back, quilted that, put the backing on, and was set to put on the bias when my dad bought me a machine! Wish I had it when I was putting all the squares together lol. Now if you are a quilter you would have picked up that I did the quilting BEFORE I put on the backing. I was not aware that this was wrong till later, I guess I missed that chapter and episode haha. So, I was at the sewing machine, A machine I had never used before, making a quilt I had never done before, trying to put on bias. Needless to say, it isn't the most perfect quilt and you can clearly see huge mistakes. But I got it done by her 1st birthday, and she loves it, and she is getting ready to turn 8 and takes it everywhere. It has been to preschool, many camping trips, and sleepovers. Well I have learned through practice, more reading, more tv shows, and talking to more people how to do a quilt the right way, and now.....
